Vincent Kompany expects Manchester City momentum

Vincent Kompany believes that Manchester City's League Cup triumph can give the team a boost in the Premier League title race.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has claimed that the team's League Cup triumph can give them a boost in the Premier League title race.

The Blues won the first of a possible four trophies this season when they beat Sunderland 3-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Kompany now hopes that City can build on that victory in their attempt to be crowned champions of England again.

"Winning the League Cup gives you a lot of joy and pride and that could be a factor in giving us some momentum," the Belgian international told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously we are really happy and our fans are really happy but the next thing is you want to keep it going, you want to give it more. The competition is tough so we shall see."

City's Premier League campaign resumes on Saturday when they welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium.
