John Carver: 'We have no intention of sitting back against Manchester City'

John Carver wants to see Newcastle replicate the performance from their shock League Cup victory over Manchester City earlier this campaign when they meet on Saturday.

Newcastle United caretaker boss John Carver has insisted that his side will look to attack Manchester City in this weekend's Premier League meeting in order to pull off an upset.

The Citizens cannot afford to drop more points at the Etihad Stadium as they aim to reduce the seven-point deficit on current leaders Chelsea.

Having already picked up a shock result against Manuel Pellegrini's men this term in the League Cup, Carver believes that his men can produce a similar performance this time around.

"Man City have still got a chance [of winning the title] and they'll be looking for three points from this," he told reporters. "But I would like to surprise them.

"We went there in the League Cup and won 2-0 and thoroughly deserved the win. We will go there with confidence and won't park the bus. We have a game plan."

Newcastle currently find themselves in 11th place in the league table with 32 points from their 25 games this term.
