Cesc Fabregas: Barcelona "proud" to beat Manchester City

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that the team are "proud" to have knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League.

Cesc Fabregas has said that Barcelona are "proud" to have knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League.

The La Liga champions secured a 2-1 win at Camp Nou this evening, beating the Premier League side 4-1 over two legs.

"It was a very tight game against a world-class team. It was a great result to win 2-0 over there and today it was tough," BBC Sport quotes the midfielder as saying.

"We created a lot of chances, we had a goal which was onside ruled out and could have had a penalty. We go home happy. The last couple of games have not made us happy, we had some negative results but we have to be proud of today's result.

"Maybe City should have a penalty but we could too. When you play for Barcelona the minimum is to reach the final. We know it's difficult with the teams still in the tournament."

The draw for the quarter-finals takes place next week.
