Wigan Athletic have reportedly increased their offer to sign Ivan Ramis from Real Mallorca.
It was reported that manager Roberto Martinez failed in a bid to sign the 27-year-old earlier this summer.
However, it is believed that Martinez is willing to meet Mallorca's asking price, which is said to be in the region of £3.5m.
A source close to the player has told Sky Sports News: "We are convinced he will end up at Wigan."
Everton, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Celtic are also thought to be in the running for the centre-back's signature.
