Mainz 05 and Borussia Monchengladbach have played out a goalless draw in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

When Max Kruse found Oscar Wendt early on for a shot that ended up going wide, it looked as though there would be plenty of attacking play.

However, after Shinji Okazaki put a shot narrowly wide of the far post from an angle, the chances quickly dried up.

All the attempts were from outside the box with both Kruse and Raffael firing hopeful efforts over the bar.

In the second half Mainz improved, but aside from a Yunus Malli effort that fizzed just over the bar, they did not create enough.

Neither side could find a winner and settled for what was a deserved point for both teams.
