New Lyon signing Gael Danic has revealed his pride at signing for what he says is the biggest club that he has played for.
Danic also said that his performances in the last five seasons for former club Valenciennes mean that he deserves a chance at a more reputable club.
"Frankly, I'm very proud," the 31-year-old told Ligue1.com. "Without disrespecting the clubs I've played for, I've never had the chance to play at a club of the standing that OL has.
"I'm proud, first of all, but I'm also happy because it's a great reward for the hard work I put in for five seasons at Valenciennes. I've managed to progress regularly from year to year, and I hope to keep doing so with Olympique Lyonnais.
"I didn't hesitate [to make the move], because at my age, you want to play at as high a level as possible. With Lyon, having the chance to play Champions League football - I've often been involved in relegation dogfights - is fantastic."
Danic scored five goals and made 11 assists last season for Valenciennes.
