Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that goalkeeper Anthony Lopes could have eardrum damage after being hit by a firecracker in a game.
Saturday's Ligue 1 match between Metz and Lyon was abandoned after the Portugal international was struck by a device, while a second exploded next to him as he was receiving treatment.
Lopes's club said that the stopper was taken to hospital to undergo tests, and that his hearing may be under threat.
"At worst the eardrum could be affected," Aulas told beIN Sports.
"He has a loss of balance and he doesn't know where he is. That's why he was taken to the hospital. The team will wait for him and hope it's nothing serious."
The LFP, which manages league football in France, confirmed that its disciplinary committee was reviewing the incident.
