Alan Hansen apologises for 'Match of the Day' comment

Match of the Day pundit Alan Hansen apologises after making a "coloured" remark about black players on last night's show.

Match of the Day regular Alan Hansen has apologised for unintentionally describing black players as "coloured" during last night's broadcast.

The former Liverpool hardman was discussing the racism charges faced by Luis Suarez and John Terry and his remarks caused a Twitter storm.

"I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused. This was never my intention and I deeply regret the use of the word," Hansen said.

The 56-year-old, who made 434 Anfield appearances, has been on the show for nearly 20 years.
