Daniel Sturridge "proud" of Raheem Sterling

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge says that he is "proud" of teammate Raheem Sterling after watching the youngster star for the Reds this term.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has revealed his pride at seeing Raheem Sterling flourish this season.

Sturridge made a goalscoring return for the Reds as he made his first appearance since August in Saturday's 2-0 win over West Ham United.

Sterling had earlier opened the scoring at Anfield, and Sturridge has been delighted with his teammate's form this term.

He told the club's official website: "He's done extremely well. He's working hard and I'm proud of him as his older brother to look at him and see how well he's done.

"I just hope he continues to work hard and play in the way he has because he's improving every single day. He takes it in his stride - he doesn't get too big headed, he doesn't get overly confident with anything.

"I take him under my arm when he goes through difficult times as well, but I give him all the credit in the world and I'm really proud of him."

Brendan Rodgers's side return to action when they travel to Bolton Wanderers in an FA Cup fourth-round replay next week.
