Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has thanked England boss Roy Hodgson for handing him his full international debut.
Shelvey was part of the England team that beat San Marino 5-0 last night, coming on for Michael Carrick after 66 minutes.
The 20-year-old was quick to thank Hodgson for giving him the chance, and is hopeful that his performance will lead to further call-ups.
"Things couldn't have gone any better. I've thanked Roy for giving me a chance to go out and show what I'm worth and hopefully I can get many more call-ups. I'm buzzing to have played my first game, especially being at Wembley in front of the England crowd," Shelvey told FATV.
"I just got told to keep the ball moving and to keep the game flowing, and I think I did that.
"Whether I get the next call-up is down to the manager but I feel like I've proven my worth and that I can play at this level."
Shelvey has made nine appearances for Liverpool so far this season, scoring three goals.
