Brendan Rodgers praises Alberto Moreno's attitude

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers praises Alberto Moreno's attitude to being left out of the side in favour of Joe Gomez.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has praised Alberto Moreno for the Spaniard's response to losing his place in the first team.

The left-back has been on the substitutes' bench for both of the Reds' Premier League games this term, with summer signing Joe Gomez preferred by Rodgers in the full-back slot.

Moreno gave an eye-catching cameo off the bench in Monday's 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield, and Rodgers is pleased with how his player has responded to being left out of the team.

Rodgers told the club's official website: "Alberto has trained very well. He understands the reasons why he's not in the team at this moment, but he, like all the other players, it was very important for me to acknowledge to them that it will be difficult between now and the international break, especially if the team is winning.

"But there are going to be opportunities for players this season, and there are opportunities every single day in training.

"And Alberto has trained really, really well, with no drop-off in his enthusiasm. He has quality and knows the areas where we want to help him improve in."

Rodgers's side travel to Arsenal on Monday.
