Nathan Eccleston faces action from Liverpool after controversial 9/11 Twitter comments.

Liverpool forward Nathan Eccleston is under investigation by the Merseyside club after stating that the 9/11 attacks were not carried out by the hands of terrorists via Twitter.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan to Charlton Athletic, wrote on the social network, “I aint going to say attack don't let the media make u believe that was terrorist that did it.”

The comments were later deleted by the striker but Liverpool have decided to take action over the controversy.

“The club takes this matter extremely seriously and senior club officials have informed Nathan Eccleston that we are undertaking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these postings and will decide on an appropriate course of action,” the Daily Mail quotes an LFC spokesman as saying.

Eccleston has made nine appearances for the Premier League side.
