Brad Jones "disappointed" at lack of playing time

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones says that captain Steven Gerrard inspires him to work hard in training in order to improve his game.

Brad Jones has admitted that he is "disappointed" at not being able to play a bigger part at Liverpool.

The 32-year-old has largely played second fiddle at Anfield since joining the club in 2010, not starting a single Premier League game since March 2013.

Despite his lack of action on the field, Jones says that captain Steven Gerrard inspires him to work hard during every training session.

"Before every game, I will be honest, I'm disappointed if I'm not playing," ESPN quotes him as saying. "It might sound stupid but that's how I work during the week. One thing people find when they come to the club is how hard training is - how intense it is.

"Players don't do down days and that comes from Stevie. I don't think I have ever seen him walk around in training. He is one of the hardest workers - so when your captain is like that, everyone follows. And it is something that has probably improved a lot of people's games."

Jones started three games for Liverpool last season, all of which came in the FA Cup.
