Steven Gerrard thanks Liverpool fans for their support this season.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has thanked the club's fans for their support throughout his recent injuries.

Gerrard, who made his return to action against Blackburn earlier this week, missed the beginning of the season with a groin problem before an ankle infection put him back on the sidelines after an initial short-lived return.

However, the fan favourite insists that is he happy to be back in front of the Liverpool crowd.

"It's just great to be back involved again and be back with my team-mates," he told the club's official website. "It was a freak injury and coming so soon after being out for so long with my groin it's been absolute torture.

"Coming on against Blackburn was special. The reception I got when I came on was really touching and it meant a lot to me. The support I've had from the supporters throughout has been magnificent and I want to thank them for that."

Gerrard, 31, has made just six appearances for the Anfield club this season.
