Wednesday's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup: Marcos Llorente, Harvey Elliott, Stefan de Vrij

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Wednesday, December 16.

The summer transfer window has now closed and attention will begin to turn to January for Premier League champions Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side brought in Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas during the summer, making for one of their busier transfer windows in the last couple of years.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.

Wednesday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Liverpool considering move for Atletico Madrid's Marcos Llorente?

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.

The 25-year-old scored twice at Anfield in the last-16 second leg back in March to knock the Reds out of the Champions League, and now it appears that the side are keen to welcome him back.

ESPN reports that Jurgen Klopp is interested in landing the Spaniard, although it appears that they are not the only ones in the race to sign him, according to Llorente's agent.

"I have received many calls since Anfield for Marcos Llorente," his agent Julio Llorente told radio station Cadena Ser.

"Marcos and I have always talked about this, and he wants to stay, so there is not much else to do. The last call I received was in May, and it was not from Spain."

Llorente, who made his international debut last month against the Netherlands, has made over 50 appearances for Diego Simeone's side since joining from city rivals Real Madrid in 2019, and has scored five goals and provided three assists in 17 appearances this campaign.

Liverpool to cut Harvey Elliott loan short?

Liverpool could reportedly consider recalling Harvey Elliott from his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers early following Diogo Jota's injury.

Jota has made a blistering start to his Anfield career, but the Portuguese attacker is now set to remain on the sidelines for six to eight weeks with a knee problem.

Elliott was shipped out on loan to Blackburn earlier this year, and the 17-year-old has made an impression at the Championship outfit with three goals and four assists in 13 league matches.

However, according to The Mirror, Jurgen Klopp could elect to cut Elliott's loan spell at Ewood Park short, and the youngster could enjoy more first-team action with the Premier League champions as Jota recovers.

The Englishman moved to Anfield from Fulham in the summer of 2019, and Elliott has turned out nine times for Klopp's side since his arrival on Merseyside.

Liverpool are also struggling with injuries defensively and have reportedly identified Inter Milan's Stefan de Vrij as a potential solution in January.
