Liverpool decide to give Philippe Coutinho a Champions League medal, despite the playmaker having joined Barcelona during the January transfer window.

Liverpool have decided to acknowledge Philippe Coutinho's contribution to the club's Champions League campaign.

During the first half of the season, Coutinho provided five goals and two assists from five outings before signing for Barcelona in January.

UEFA has stated that the decision whether to award a former player a medal from the final is at the discretion of the club, and Liverpool have responded by agreeing to recognise the playmaker's performances between September and December.

Coutinho netted for Liverpool during the 1-1 draw away at Spartak Moscow at the end of September, before scoring a hat-trick against the Russian outfit in a must-win fixture in December.

On Saturday evening, Liverpool face Real Madrid in the final of the competition in Kiev.
