After being thrashed 4-0 by relegation-threatened Leicester City last weekend, Liverpool produced an improved performance against title-chasing Chelsea in midweek, but they ultimately left Kingsmeadow empty-handed.

Emma Koivisto gave the Reds the lead in the second minute before Niamh Charles equalised in the closing stages of the first half.

Liverpool did their utmost to hold on to a point, but Sam Kerr scored an 86th-minute winner to condemn Matt Beard's side to a second straight defeat.

The Reds, who are in seventh position, will be looking forward to returning to Prenton Park, having won their last two home matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion.

After losing their last seven games against Man City, Liverpool will be looking to claim their first win over the Citizens since May 2018.

Man City have showcased their firepower in their last two matches, cruising to a 6-2 win over West Ham before thrashing Reading 4-1 last weekend.

Sanne Troelsgaard scored in the opening 60 seconds to give Reading the early advantage, but goals from Chloe Kelly, Khadija Shaw, Lauren Hemp and Steph Houghton ensured that Man City wrapped up all three points.

With three games to play in the 2022-23 campaign, second-placed Manchester City remain in the hunt to win their second WSL title.

They are currently three points adrift of leaders and local rivals Manchester United, while they are just one point clear of third-placed Chelsea, who have two games in hand over the top two.

After winning seven of their last eight league games, Gareth Taylor's side will be hopeful of picking up another win on Sunday.

Team News

Liverpool are expected to be without the services of Yana Daniels and Megan Campbell, while Ceri Holland is a doubt due to a neck problem.

Leanne Kiernan has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with an ankle injury, but she could make her long-awaited return to the matchday squad on Sunday.

The 24-year-old could be joined on the bench by captain Niamh Fahey, who has missed the last nine games through injury.

As for the visitors, Sandy MacIver and Laia Aleixandri will miss the rest of the campaign, while Alanna Kennedy remains sidelined with an injury issue.

Taylor has revealed that Mary Fowler is a doubt after picking up a knock when she featured as a substitute against Reading, and the Australia international will be assessed ahead of the trip to Prenton Park.

After cruising to a 4-1 victory last weekend, Taylor could be tempted to name an unchanged starting XI for Sunday's encounter.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Laws; Koivisto, Bonner, Roberts, Matthews, Hinds; Kearns, Taylor, Holland; Stengel, Dowie

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Roebuck; Casparij, Houghton, Greenwood, Morgan; Hasegawa, Angeldal; Kelly, Coombs, Hemp; Shaw

We say: Liverpool Women 0-2 Manchester City Women

Man City have already beaten Liverpool on two occasions this season, winning 2-1 in the WSL and claiming a 2-0 away victory in the League Cup, and we think that they will have the extra quality to pick up another win on Sunday.
