Obafemi Martins will reportedly join Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders after cutting short his stay at Levante.
The former Newcastle United striker has paid the exit fee, understood to be around €3m (£2.6m), in his contract, which allows him to terminate his Levante stay early, the La Liga side confirmed on Monday.
A club statement read: "Footballer Obafemi Martins has this afternoon placed at the headquarters of the Professional Football League (LFP) the amount corresponding to the termination clause in his contract with Levante UD."
Martins, who netted nine times in 27 appearances for the Spanish outfit this season, will fly to the United States later in the week to complete a move, according to Sky Sports News.
The 28-year-old Nigerian has previously played for Inter Milan, Rubin Kazan and Birmingham City among others.
