Steve Evans: 'Results will dictate my Leeds United future'

New Leeds United boss Steve Evans claims that he is the right man to guide the club to the Premier League, but only if he can keep hold of his job for long enough.

Steve Evans has acknowledged that the only way he will remain Leeds United boss for the long term is to win games.

The Scotsman got his Whites tenure off to a positive start after seeing his side claim a 1-1 draw away at Fulham on Wednesday night.

Controversial owner Massimo Cellino has already replaced five managers in the space of 18 months at Elland Road, but Evans is confident that he is the right man to lead the club back to the Premier League over time.

"I do believe I can bring some relative success to this football club," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "If I can bring 20 per cent of what I've achieved in the last five years we know where the club's going. It's a question of when and not if.

"I told the players tongue in cheek I had a contract until Friday and said they would leave before then if they did not give me passion. You stay as Leeds United manager if you win football matches. The results will dictate if I have a future here."

Leeds, who are now 18th in the Championship, face Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium in two days' time.
