Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has insisted that the fan who attacked Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland will be banned from Elland Road for life.
A 21-year-old man found his way onto the pitch during Leeds' 1-1 draw with Sheffield on Friday and struck Kirkland in the face before running off the field.
"The idiot who ran on the pitch better not go anywhere near Elland Road again," Bates told the Yorkshire Post. "There are a lot of people angered by what he did.
"We have been working hard as a club to improve our image but this guy has done so much damage to that. It isn't fair on the overwhelming majority of Leeds fans."
The Football Association and the South Yorkshire police have launched separate investigations into the incident.
