Genoa stun Inter Milan

Luca Antonelli scores a late goal to help Genoa beat Inter Milan 1-0 in their Serie A clash.

Luca Antonelli scored a late goal to give Genoa a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in their Serie A match at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Jonathan almost fired the visitors into an early lead, but after being slipped through on goal by Esteban Cambiasso, his powerful drive was pushed wide by Mattia Perin.

The Brazilian soon had another chance to score for Inter. He was picked out at the back post by Diego Milito, but he hammered a shot over the bar from close range.

Inter continued to dominate and Rodrigo Palacio came within inches of finding the net, but his low strike across the keeper went just wide of the far post.

Within seconds of the restart, Palacio should have found the net for the visitors, but after bursting into the box, he curled an effort over.

Samir Handanovic then had to be alert in the Inter goal to tip Ioannis Fetfatzidis's stinging long-range strike over the bar.

Fetfatzidis threatened again moments later, as he worked his way to the byline, before seeing Handanovic block his shot at the near post.

In the 83rd minute of the game, the home side broke the deadlock, as Antonelli rose highest to head a corner into the back of the net.

Palacio almost drew Inter level in the final moments, but his close-range header was saved by Perin and Genoa held on to claim the three points.
