Esteban Cambiasso admits that Inter Milan were not good enough this season to qualify for Europe.

Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has accepted that his side did not deserve to qualify for Europe this season.

The Nerazzurri lost 3-1 at home to Lazio, which was an unprecedented 15th defeat in a Serie A season, and because of that Cambiasso admitted that other teams deserved to take Inter's European place.

"No European football next season will be a new experience for us and it's not good for us or the club," the midfielder told the club's official website.

"If we're not involved it means we don't deserve to be. Other teams have been better than us and deserved it more.

"We'll have to give our all next term, both in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, so that we can get back to doing what we've done in recent years."

Cambiasso returned from injury during Wednesday night's defeat.
