Gary Locke left frustrated by Hearts loss

Hearts manager Gary Locke bemoaned his side's lack of confidence as they slumped to defeat against St Johnstone.

Hearts boss Gary Locke has criticised his team's consistency after they followed up their midweek win over Hibernian with a 2-0 defeat at home to St Johnstone.

Goals from Nigel Hasselbaink and Steve May in either half enough to leave the Jambos 15 points adrift at the foot of the table.

He told reporters: "One of the things is, when we went a goal down, we can't let our heads drop as badly as that because there were still 70 minutes left to play.

"The heads were down a wee bit at half time but there were still 45 minutes to get back in the game and the next goal was crucial. We never started the second half well enough and it's cost us."

Hearts will hope to fare better when they travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen next Saturday.
