Wolfsburg into Bundesliga top four

Wolfsburg see off Hamburg 3-1 at the Imtech Arena to break into the top four of the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have moved into the Bundesliga top four with a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Hamburg at the Imtech Arena.

The hosts were ahead within two minutes courtesy of Ivan Perisic, who found the back of the net from long range to get the Wolves up and running.

The visitors added a second before half time when Ivica Olic picked out Kevin de Bruyne, and the Belgium international fired into the bottom corner to double the scoring.

Dieter Hecking's men continued to push in search of a third following the interval and managed to find it thanks to Olic, who found the target from close range.

Ivo Ilicevic pulled one back for Hamburg just short of the hour mark when he finished into the bottom corner, but it was to be little more than a consolation as Wolfsburg held out comfortably for the points.

There was some bad news for the Champions League chasers, however, with Luiz Gustavo receiving a second yellow card late on leading to his dismissal.
