Alvaro Vazquez brace fires Getafe to victory over Levante

A brace from Alvaro Vazquez and a strike from Emiliano Buendia secures a 3-0 win for Getafe in their La Liga clash against Levante.

Alvaro Vazquez notched a brace to fire Getafe to a 3-0 win over Levante in their La Liga clash this evening.

The visitors were the first to threaten when Simao Mate headed at goal from a corner early in the game, but his effort was saved by Vicente Guaita.

Getafe responded when Victor Rodriguez raided forward to the edge of the box and rifled an effort towards the bottom corner, only to see his shot saved by Ruben.

The home side threatened just before the break when Alvaro Medran managed to weave his way past two defenders, but his first shot was saved by Ruben who palmed the ball out, and the forward latched on to the rebound only for the keeper to deny him once again.

In the second half, Deyverson threatened for the visitors when he rose highest in the area to head at goal, but his effort from Jefferson Lerma's cross went over the bar.

Medran almost broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when he curled a low effort with his left foot towards the bottom corner, but his effort went wide of the post.

The home side upped the ante and Rodriguez had another strike from the edge of the box, which was well saved by Ruben as he dove down low to his right to keep the ball out.

However, Getafe found the breakthrough in the 81st minute when Vazquez headed home from close range after latching on to Damian Suarez's cross into the box.

Levante pushed to get back into the game in the dying minutes, but Roger headed his effort wide of the post, and as the visitors pushed forward they left space at the back for Emiliano Buendia to put the match beyond doubt with a low strike.

Vazquez then notched his second goal of the game in the final minute of stoppage time to guide Getafe to their second win of the season.
