Fulham front pair staying, insists Martin Jol

Fulham manager Martin Jol ensures fans that English front duo Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora will remain at the club in January.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has said that strike duo Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora will remain at the club.

Both players have been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage in the January transfer window but the Dutchman insists that the English pair are staying.

While under the management of Neil Warnock, Queens Park Rangers expressed an interest in Johnson while a number of clubs have been reportedly keeping tabs on Zamora after suggestions of a fallout with Jol.

Asked if there was any truth in the rumours of a move away for Johnson, Jol said: "I don't know because we never had a bid for Andrew Johnson, and before that there was an interest from Neil Warnock.

"We were talking about it but I told you all along that I would like to keep him. He is under contract so he will stay here."

Warnock has since been replaced by Mark Hughes and Jol, when questioned on whether there had been any further bids for Johnson replied: "No. And for Bobby."

The Cottagers sit 12th in the Premier League, eight points clear of the drop zone.

Their next game is a trip to Everton for an FA Cup fourth-round tie tomorrow evening.
