National League roundup: Forest Green maintain perfect start

Sports Mole rounds up the National League action as Forest Green Rovers strengthen their grip on top spot.

Forest Green Rovers continued their 100% record in the National League with a 2-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers this afternoon.

Two goals in five minutes from Keanu Marsh-Brown and Jon Parkin gave the leaders three well-earned points at Aggborough.

Wrexham made it five wins in a row as they beat Halifax 3-1 with goals from Javan Vidal, Dominic Rose and Wes York and rise to second in the table.

Chester stole a 2-1 victory late on as two goals from Tom Peers and Craig Hobson in four minutes saw them beat Macclesfield at Moss Rose.

Tranmere Rovers fell to their second defeat in a row despite a late reply from Lois Maynard as Altrincham ran out 2-1 winners.

Southport are still waiting for their first three points after losing 1-0 away at fellow strugglers Barrow, with Andrai Jones sent off for the second time in six games.

Cheltenham Town managed a 3-0 win away at Torquay, despite going down to ten men, while Braintree won 2-1 away at Welling thanks to goals from Michael Cheek and Daniel Sparkes.

A local derby between Lincoln City and Grimsby Town finished 1-1 after Matt Rhead put the Imps ahead from the penalty spot but they were denied the win by Omar Bogle.

Danny Johnson scored twice to give Gateshead a 2-0 away win at Guiseley whilst Eastleigh scored in the final minutes to win 2-1 away at Aldershot.
