Gonzalo Rodriguez 'disappointed' by Fiorentina defeat

Gonzalo Rodriguez says that his team still have a chance of reaching the Europa League final, despite losing 3-0 in the first leg of their semi-final against Sevilla.

Fiorentina defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has expressed his disappointment after his side suffered a 3-0 defeat in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Sevilla this evening.

Two goals from Aleix Vidal and a late third from Kevin Gameiro mean that the Italians face an uphill struggle to turn the tie around in next week's return meeting in Florence.

"We started well and had a great chance with Mario Gomez. They scored at their first chance, we tried everything and kept conceding. It's really disappointing," Rodriguez told Sport Mediaset.

"There wasn't too much pressure. We played to attack and had three or four clear-cut chances, but we didn't take them and Sevilla did.

"After the second goal, we were no longer Fiorentina. There's still a chance in the second leg and we've got to try."

Fiorentina and Sevilla will meet again in the second leg at the Stadio Artemio Franchi next Thursday.
