Everton manager David Moyes feels that Marouane Fellaini deserves more protection from Premier League referees following last weekend's defeat to Norwich City.

Everton manager David Moyes has declared that Marouane Fellaini deserves more protection from Premier League officials.

Fellaini was in the thick of the action in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Norwich City and was left with a bleeding knee by a tackle from Canaries midfielder Bradley Johnson.

Johnson was not penalised for the tackle by referee Lee Mason, a decision Moyes feels is indicative of the treatment his Belgian midfielder receives every week.

He told The Sun: "I don't think that Fellaini ever gets the protection he deserves.

"I think he's picked on quite regularly because he's noticeable. He very rarely gets looked after."

The Toffees are six points off Champions League qualification following last weekend's defeat at Carrow Road.
