Martin Keown: 'Everton can reach the top four'

Martin Keown believes that Everton can reach the top four this season because of their solid defending.

Former England defender Martin Keown believes that a top-four finish could still be on the cards for Everton because of their solid base at the back.

The Toffees climbed to sixth in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Keown told the Daily Star: "I like the centre-halves at Everton. You look at Sylvain Distin who goes from strength to strength.

"Phil Jagielka has really improved big-time since he has been at the club. The amount of blocks he gets in is incredible. He just seems to get in the way of everything. That's not done by accident.

"That's why the top four is still a realistic target for David Moyes. How Everton finish is all-important – and they will finish well."

Everton are just four points behind Chelsea in fourth with nine games left to play this season.
