Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen says that the team need to 'show what they can do' against Lyon in the Europa League.

Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen has claimed that the team need to step up their game when they take on Lyon in Thursday night's Europa League group game.

Ronald Koeman's men have won just two of their eight Premier League games this season and scored just five goals in the process.

The Toffees will now switch their attention to European competition, where they are struggling having recorded a defeat and a draw in the group phase.

Klaassen, who joined the club from Ajax in the summer, is keen to be in the starting XI against Lyon so that he can face former teammates Bertrand Traore and Kenny Tete, both of whom joined the French club in the summer.

"I am eager to play, of course, against these types of teams and former teammates, you really want to play," the midfielder told Everton's official website. "We knew we had a difficult start with a few tough games, but now is the time to win games and show what we can do.

"Lyon have lots of good players. Traore was really important for us at Ajax last year. I do not think everybody noticed it at the beginning but he is so good with the ball, he dribbles with it and is dangerous all the time."

Klaassen has not been named in the first XI for Everton's last two league games.
