Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson says that the team need to play "ugly" in order to earn a much-needed win.

Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has claimed that the team need to be prepared to play "ugly" in order to grab a vital win.

Ronald Koeman's side have only managed to win two Premier League games in eight attempts, which has placed them just two points above the relegation zone.

In the Europa League things are not much better given that the team have drawn one and lost one, putting them at the bottom of Group E ahead of Thursday's match against Lyon at Goodison Park.

"Obviously the next game is an important one but, for us at the moment, we just need to win, pretty or ugly," Sigurdsson told the club's official website.

"We just need to get results and once we do that, the confidence will come back into the team and things will come a little bit easier for us, and I think if we get a couple of results back-to-back then we'll hopefully get going. I don't think we're too far away."

Everton have scored just five league goals so far this season.
