The FA confirms that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has sustained a medial knee ligament injury.

The Football Association have confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained a medial knee ligament injury during England's World Cup warm-up match against Ecuador on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old suffered the blow following a challenge from Carlos Gruezo during the 2-2 draw at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

Following a scan, the English governing body have announced details of the injury but not the severity, which does not indicate whether the Arsenal star will miss the World Cup which gets underway in Brazil next week.

The FA released a short statement saying: "The England medical team are continuing to monitor and treat the injury."

Reports have claimed that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out of action for between 10 days and three weeks.
