England to host Germany in friendly next month

England line up a November friendly with Germany at Wembley, as well as another against a non-European opponent that could be Argentina.

England have lined up an international friendly against old rivals Germany at Wembley next month.

Both sides have safely qualified for next year's World Cup in Brazil and England are to take on one European opponent on November 19 and another non-European opponent three or four days before.

Club England managing director Adrian Bevington said that it was no "secret" that a clash against the Germans was likely, also revealing that they wanted to play Uruguay in the first friendly but must now look for another opponent as Uruguay are in the World Cup playoffs.

"We are pretty well advanced (in negotiations for the November friendlies)," Bevington told BBC Sport.

"I expect to be in a position in the next 24 hours to confirm one of them. I don't think it is any great secret that we are expecting to play Germany in the second of the two games next month.

"We are in talks with non-European opponents at the moment with regards to the first game which would be on Friday (November 15) or Saturday (November 16), that is still to be confirmed."

Australia and Argentina are believed to be two names that have been put forward for the first match.

Last time England and Germany met was in the 2010 World Cup, when the Germans thrashed the Three Lions 4-1.
