Fabio Capello slams the English notion of morality and claims that he resigned as the England coach because of the controversy surrounding John Terry.

Fabio Capello has revealed that he quit the post of England coach in order to "defend" John Terry and finds people in England "too moralist".

The 66-year-old resigned from the Three Lions post in February this year following the FA's decision to strip the Chelsea defender of his captaincy.

"The reason I left England was to defend Terry," the Italian told Italia 2. "English people are too moralist - they want people to behave in a certain way, and then they take hasty decisions like that [of Terry] who was later acquitted.

"My intention is to end my career when my contract with Russia terminates. If there's an interesting project I could change my plans but nowadays I can't see nothing interesting."

Capello is now working as the Russia head coach.
