How England could line up against Bulgaria

Sports Mole looks at how England could line up for Saturday's Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's England take to the field for the first time since the Nations League third-place playoff on Saturday when they face Bulgaria at Wembley.

The Three Lions have won two from two in Group A so far, with automatic qualification looking to be a mere formality.

The campaign began with a 5-0 drubbing of the Czech Republic at Wembley, before a similar 5-1 thrashing of Montenegro in Podgorica three days later.

Uncapped Aaron Wan-Bissaka has had to pull out of the squad with injury, but James Maddison, Mason Mount and Tyrone Mings could all be in line to make their international debuts.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how England could line up for Saturday's match.

Out: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (back)

Despite qualification for Euro 2020 looking all but assured already, Gareth Southgate will be keen to put any lingering doubts to bed with a strong performance against Bulgaria.

The Bulgarians have just two points from four games so far in Group A and suffered an embarrassing 3-2 home defeat to Kosovo last time out.

Since the World Cup, Southgate has favoured a 4-3-3 system, with two number eights given license to roam in front of a more defensive minded number six. With Eric Dier's fitness issues affecting his minutes at club level, the England boss could give Declan Rice another opportunity to stake his claim for that position at the base of the midfield.

Ben Chilwell has had fitness issues of his own this season, but returned for Leicester's 3-1 victory over Bournemouth and should start at left-back. With Kyle Walker and Aaron Wan-Bissaka's absences, Trent Alexander-Arnold should be a certain starter on the right flank. Michael Keane is likely to partner world-record defender Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence.

Harry Winks looked back to his best in the North London derby and could be handed a start by Southgate. The most attacking member of the midfield trio is more difficult to predict, with the manager having previously been reliant on Jesse Lingard and Ross Barkley. It could be time for him, however, to hand an opportunity to the in-form James Maddison.

Moving forward, captain Harry Kane is a certainty, as is Raheem Sterling, who has scored four goals in two qualifiers so far this campaign. Marcus Rashford could feature alongside them, but more likely is Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who has excited crowds with his skill and directness in previous outings.
