Dundee United have reportedly asked for St Johnstone's permission to speak to manager Tommy Wright.
The Scottish Premiership club have been without a full-time coach since September 26 after they opted to sack Jackie McNamara.
Numerous names, including Steve Evans and Steven Pressley, have been linked to the position, but according to Sky Sports News, United have moved for Wright.
The 52-year-old has been in charge of St Johnstone since 2013 and he currently sits seventh in the table with the club, while United are at the bottom having taken just one win in 10 games.
