Manager Alan Pardew has revealed that discussions have opened up with Crystal Palace regarding a new contract.
A recent report claimed that the Eagles are keen to tie the 54-year-old down to extended terms, amid speculation that he will be a leading contender for the England job should Roy Hodgson step down at the conclusion of next summer's European Championships.
However, despite having confirmed that talks have taken place, Pardew added that an official agreement was "a long way off".
"There has been some discussion but the bottom line is we're in a great place. Personally a new deal is a long way off I think," he told reporters.
Pardew took charge at Selhurst Park in January following a four-year stint with Newcastle United.
