Crystal Palace fined for breaching Premier League rules against Cardiff City

Crystal Palace are fined by the Premier League for their conduct before a match against Cardiff last season.

Crystal Palace have been fined by the Premier League for their conduct before a match against Cardiff City last season.

Cardiff made a complaint following their 3-0 defeat in April, claiming that the result should not have stood because their starting lineup had been leaked to their opponents.

Sporting director Iain Moody, who moved from Cardiff to Palace earlier in the season, is thought to have used his contacts at his former club in order to obtain the information.

The Premier League tweeted: "The Premier League Board has considered a complaint from Cardiff City regarding the conduct of a Crystal Palace official. The Board found that Crystal Palace breached Rule B.16 and has exercised its summary jurisdiction and fined the club."

Cardiff sacked the member of staff thought to have been responsible for the leak in the wake of the incident.
