Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has revealed that he has held "positive" talks about the acquisition of a new striker.
With the League One outfit due to face Port Vale next weekend, Davis is hopeful that he will have a new signing in place before the league clash.
"We have had further conservations with managers and agents about certain players and that has been positive and is still ongoing," Davis told the club's official website.
"He wouldn't be able to play in the FA Cup replay [against Wycombe] on Tuesday night anyway but with the Vale game coming up on the Saturday, we might try and bring someone in before then."
Crewe currently sit 21st in League One.
