Florent Malouda has hinted that he could remain at Chelsea for the duration of his contract.
The France international had been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with Santos the likely destination, but may have had a change of heart.
"I have always stated that I would like to go to Brazil," Malouda told L'Equipe.
"However, I still have one year remaining on my contract at Chelsea. Moreover, there is the FIFA Club World Cup in December."
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, who previously admitted that Malouda's future with the European champions is up in the air, will hold contact talks with the player before the new season starts.
Malouda has made 149 appearances for Chelsea since joining the club from Lyon in 2007, scoring 35 goals.
