Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos plays down speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea as their new sporting director.

Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos has played down reports linking him with the sporting director's job at Chelsea.

The 58-year-old reunited with Christophe Galtier at the Parc des Princes earlier this summer and has overseen a period of transition with the French champions in the summer months.

With Chelsea seeing Marina Granovskaia leave the club in the wake of Roman Abramovich's exit, owner Todd Boehly is on the lookout for a new man upstairs.

Boehly and Graham Potter are believed to have discussed the appointment of a sporting director during the latter's interview for the manager's job, and a list of candidates have been mentioned in recent days.

Campos has been strongly linked with the role, and a recent report claimed that the Blues were willing to hand him a £260m transfer fund to join the club.

However, speaking to RMC Sport, the PSG chief swiftly shot down any hopes of Chelsea prising him away from the Parc des Princes.

"I have a three-year deal here at PSG, as I wanted, and I've joined this club because I'm convinced we can do something extraordinary. I've the right energy to fight for PSG and do something great here," Campos said.

Campos previously worked as a scout for Real Madrid before joining Monaco and Lille as technical director, overseeing the latter's Ligue 1 title triumph in the 2020-21 season with Galtier.

PSG brought in Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Fabian Ruiz, Nordi Mukiele, Hugo Ekitike and Carlos Soler during Campos's first summer at the club, but Les Parisiens failed to add to their centre-back ranks.

Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar was a prime target for PSG, who ultimately refused to bow to the Nerazzurri's demands but have now seen Presnel Kimpembe ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring problem.

Campos has now admitted that he was not left satisfied with the club's summer spending, adding: "We are coming to the end of the transfer window, without the perfect balance.

"We have enormous quality in the workforce, no doubt. Afterwards, in the end, we don't reach perfection. It's always difficult to have perfection. But we work to be as close as possible to perfection.

"It's a serious problem for us. When we have three central defenders when we started playing with three central defenders, it puts us in difficulty. I'm not going to talk about names. We didn't just talk to Skriniar. In the end, we don't have the player we're missing. If we're missing a piece, the puzzle isn't complete."

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also reported to have been tracking the progress of Red Bull Salzburg director Christoph Freund, who has seen numerous young talents come through the ranks in Austria.

Freund was in attendance to watch Salzburg draw 1-1 with the Blues in the Champions League in midweek, and he has refused to rule out a move to a "huge club" such as Chelsea in the future.
