Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger has reportedly rejected interest from Liverpool, as the Germany international prepares to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The Blues are seemingly losing their battle to convince the defender to pen fresh terms at Stamford Bridge, meaning that he could leave the club for nothing next June.
According to El Nacional, Liverpool offered Rudiger a higher salary than he earns at Chelsea and were prepared to hand him a starting role in the back four alongside Virgil van Dijk.
However, the report claims that despite the presence of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who was with Rudiger at Borussia Dortmund, the German rejected the Merseyside giants.
The former Stuttgart youngster has allegedly already 'given his word' to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he will move to the Spanish giants on a free transfer ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
The 28-year-old has again been a vital player for Chelsea during the current season, making 20 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists in the process.
