Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has reportedly held talks with Melbourne Victory.
The Ghanaian is currently without a club after leaving Panathinaikos during the summer but he has kept up his fitness levels by training with the Blues.
However, according to Fox Sports Australia, the 33-year-old is currently considering the opportunity to play in Australia for the next 12 months after being offered a contract by Victory.
If a deal is completed, it will come under the "guest marquee" status, which would mean that Football Federation Australia would subsidise any transfer.
