Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink: 'Nerves could get better of Tottenham Hotspur'

Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink believes that Tottenham Hotspur could crumble under the pressure when they face the Blues in a must-win game at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur may be responsible for their own downfall in the Premier League title race when they visit Stamford Bridge this evening.

Spurs need to beat Chelsea in order to keep themselves in contention for league glory, but anything less than a win will hand the crown to Leicester City.

The Foxes have an eight-point lead in the race, and they would have wrapped up the contest on Sunday had they not been restricted to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United.

The pressure is on Tottenham to win this evening, but Hiddink believes that Chelsea's London rivals could crumble with nerves.

"They are now experiencing being at the top," Sky Sports News quotes Hiddink as saying. "I'm not much into statistics, but it's the first time in their history they're now in the end competing for the Premier League title.

"In some players it might cause nerves. They might under-perform a bit. Leicester are fearless but some Spurs players might be affected by being on top and think 'what now?'.

"We shouldn't over-evaluate it in the sense it's just Tottenham. We desperately like to win, then the next game."

Spurs have not beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the league since February 1990.
