Jose Mourinho brands Jan Vertonghen a "disgrace"

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho calls Jan Vertonghen a "disgrace" for his part in getting Fernando Torres sent off in their 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has branded Jan Vertonghen a "disgrace" after Fernando Torres was sent off for a perceived elbow on the defender on Saturday.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane, but the game was overshadowed by Torres's red card that was given for an elbow that replays confirmed did not touch Vertonghen.

Mourinho was not happy with the decision and called for the Belgium international to be banned for play-acting after the game.

"[Vertonghen] pushed the referee for a bad decision," The Telegraph quotes Mourinho as saying. "Some foreign players when they come to England still keep their culture and it's a disgrace you do that to a person from your same job.

"If I am on the [disciplinary] committee, I give three matches to this guy (Vertonghen) and say 'don't do that again'.

"Don't kill the show. It's a show for millions of people and you kill the show because you want to be clever."

Torres will miss the trip to Norwich City next Sunday.
