Chelsea's opponents in the Club World Cup semi-finals will be Mexican side Monterrey after they beat Ulsan Hyundai in a preliminary tie earlier today.

Mexican side Monterrey secured a tie against Chelsea in the Club World Cup after winning their preliminary tie this afternoon.

The CONCACAF champions overcame South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai 3-1 thanks to brace from striker Cesar Delgado.

Monterrey manager Victor Vucetich believes that his team can match Chelsea if they can produce a similar performance on Thursday.

He told BBC Sport: "If we can play like we did [against Ulsan] against Chelsea we will have a chance.

"Last year we lost in the quarter-finals here because we didn't have time to prepare. This year we had plenty of time to get ready for this match."

Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez declared earlier today that the trip to Japan will benefit his inconsistent side.

African side Al-Ahly will meet Brazilian outfit Corinthians in the other semi-final following their 2-1 win against Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
