Liverpool will reportedly aim to sign striker Michu from Swansea City in January if they fail to recruit Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.
According to The Mirror, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers's top priority is the England international but he is also keen on a backup option should he fail to land the 23-year-old.
Sturridge is said to be keen on leaving Stamford Bridge next month to play regular first-team football, but the Reds could fail to meet his weekly wage demands of £80,000.
Moreover, Chelsea have yet to make up their mind on whether to let the former Manchester City forward go and will reportedly only sell him if they can make their own purchases in attack.
This has led to Rodgers exploring other options and it has been reported that he will approach Swansea for Michu and would be prepared to pay as much as £10m for the 26-year-old Spaniard.
Michu joined Swansea from Rayo Vallecano for £2m in the summer and has scored 12 goals in 16 Premier League matches so far this season.
