The FA claim that they fully support the introduction of goal-line technology, with tests expected to be approved this summer.

The Football Association have reiterated their stance on the implementation of goal-line technology, stating that the governing body are "heartened" by the behind-the-scenes progress.

The issue of video technology was called into question yet again when Chelsea were awarded a goal that failed to cross the line during the Blues' 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final yesterday.

FIFA are currently undertaking tests of potential goal-line systems that could be introduced into the Premier League by the 2013/14 season.

"The FA has been consistent supporters of the introduction of goal-line technology for over a decade," an FA spokesman told Sky Sports News.

"We are heartened that we are now in the final stages of testing with the International Football Association Board due to take a final decision on 2 July."

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp expressed his anger at the match officials following referee Martin Atkinson's decision to allow the controversial goal.
