Antonio Conte delighted with Chelsea spirit in victory over Manchester United

Antonio Conte insists that, win or lose, Chelsea must always show the same kind of spirit displayed in their 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Antonio Conte has praised Chelsea's "spirit" in their 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Alvaro Morata headed home his eighth goal for the club 10 minutes after the break as the Blues recorded a third consecutive Premier League win.

The result also dented United's title hopes, keeping Jose Mourinho's side eight points behind table-topping Manchester City.

"It's an important victory," Conte told Sky Sports News. "When you play against Manchester United it's always a massive game.

"We know very well this team is very strong. This type of win is important for our confidence. We showed great desire and passion to win this kind of game.

"We can win or lose but our spirit must be this. Last season our spirit was in every game – we started this season with a lot of problems. We were up and down. This game showed if we want we can."

Chelsea currently sit fourth in the table, one point behind Tottenham Hotspur and United.
